Experiment - load second computer voice to XLS with 2GB

I have added a 2GB SD card to my One XL-S. I would like to experiment by adding another computer voice. Is anyone willing to upload one of the other voices (Alice UK - is that a computer voice) so that I can try?

I believe that if you can add the folder Alice under LoquendoTTS and the other files from the extra voice, I may be able to select whichever I want.

If someone has already done it, I would appreciate knowing - and knowing how to get the extra files. If not done so far, is anyone willing to upload the files to mediafile (www.mediafile.com) or some other storage spot and telling me where they are?

Thanks

Board policy will probably not permit the uploading of the voices.

I suppose that it might seem like piracy, but with the ONE XL-S the computer voice is used to read the street names which is part of the "S" package. However, because TT have put 1GB in as standard there isn't enough space for more than one computer voice. With the upgrade to 2GB adding an SD card there is sufficient space to get another voice loaded.

Maybe TT would be worried that people might be able to add TTS on units for which it was not licensed.

But thanks for the reply anyway.

Why don't you simply download those additional computer voices thru Home?

With your unit connected and your SD card inserted and Home running, go to ?add maps, voices, traffic etc? and navigate further than the first screen, you will see the ?add computer voices? option. Do not select the ?add voices? option on the first screen as you will only be offered ?fantasy voices? there and the ?computer voices? are a couple of screens further. When in ?computer voices? you can select to download additional voices.

Well thanks Gilbert for pointing that out! Because I had not seen the computer voices when selecting "add voices" I had (mistakenly) inferred that as there was insufficient memory on the One XL-S I was not being offered them!

I have now done as you suggest and it is happily downloading Kate.

I may try another.

Thanks again!

Update: the install of Kate went well so I now have an optional voice. Thanks again for pointing out the "odd" way one has to find them!

I also had a hard time finding them at first as I wanted the French voices. The first tech support person was wondering why I did not see the computer voices within the ?fantasy voices?. Only when I spoke with the second tech support person did he lead me to the right option and was finally able to download it and install after deleting ?Susan? as there is not sufficient space with the 1GB internal memory of the XL-S.

Glad you found the solution to this problem!
