Error creating user account

I just got a new Tom Tom Go 740 and when I attempt to create a new user id I get:

Were you trying to use the same email adress as you had for a previous unit?

No, I have never had a tomtom unit or an id before

Then create the account right at TomTom's site by logging in and providing an email address and password. Associate your kind of model with the account on the site.
