End of my rope

I am going nuts! After my 730 is on for about 45 seconds it goes wild. It automatically jumps into the menu and just starts scrolling. The orange arrow lights up and everything to scroll. Most of the time it gets into MapShare preferences and sets them to low. But is my unit totally screwed or is it haunted... I just don't know. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Take a thin sharp piece of cardboard and run it completely around the bezel of the unit. Sometimes, a little dirt gets under the glass and applies some pressure, resulting in weird behaviour.

If that doesn't help, try a pin reset on the unit.

And if that doesn't work........guess you need to call The Ghostbusters!

I wonder if it was a piece of the sticker that was on the face of the unit. But just in case do you have Bill Murry's number?

It seems to be back to normal. Here's what I did in order:

1-Cleared memory with Tomtom tool
2-Reinstalled Home
3-Reinstalled Firmware

it still went into menu frenzy mode so I did a pin reset in the middle of it. That seemed to have did the trick. I did notice that the pin reset disables ALG. I wonder if that was the root cause of my troubles. The first time I used it was the day it went wild.

A pin reset should not change any settings other than the time. Certainly not the setting for showing Lane Images (which is what is commonly referred to as Reality View, the screen shots appearing of exits to take).

ALG is imbedded within the maps you use. Do not appear all the time but isn't affected by a pin reset.

In any event, make a complete Explorer backup of unit's contents right now and am glad it seems to be ok.

No ghosts, after all .........
