enable and disable Voice directions

Sometimes when I playhing my juke box music on TomTom 930 voice directions still occurs and I don't wish to navigate anywhere. How do I make sure the voice directions is not interrupting me at what ever else I am doing on my gps.? When I clear itinery it doesn't help either.
In other words I just wish to disable the voice direction instructions when I have my gps on and not doing any navigating,

If you have no route planned, you don't hear voice directions.
