The ball joint needs to be tightened up because my unit keeps drooping.
Is there anyway of doing this?

Which mount style?

Generally, a proper orientation and a good pull removes the ball from any mount. Then you can add a shim before pressing the ball back in place. Have even seen ordinary copy paper used with decent results.

Mine is 5100, I think
It seems like a magnet that pulls it into the mount.

Yes, the ball can be separated from the mount. Give it a try. Pull the arm/cup down toward the power connector and keep pushing until the lever action of the arm against the mount causes the ball to pop out of the mount.

Try this. Take a latex glove and cut a finger of off it. Stretch the finger of the over the ball. The push the mount back together again. This usually works well

Perfect solution! Thanks for the tip. It really works well.

I've just taken delivery of a TT Go Superior that I want to attach to my existing Brodit mounting setup. A previous enquiry of Brodit has resulted in the information that the ball socket of each fitting (Old and New) will detach and should push onto the existing Brodit setup in the car and I note the instructions on how to do this dismantling above.

Being slightly scared of dismantling something that I can't get back together is there any trick for putting the ball of the new dock back into the socket of the old one please?

I don't know if it can work with a GO Superior

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately that doesn't look like the mounting mechanism involved. It is literally a small ball in the region of 14mm diameter, which apparently should pull apart (as should the Brodit mount on the car) and then the new front piece should replace the one in the car. The new ball mount on the windscreen sucker mount is very tight and I am a bit loathe to go pull in case it goes snap!!

NB - I cannot see a smiley face shape on the exisiting system

Very iffy about the stem of the ball joint possibly snapping

Can only say I've performed this process a number of times, and nothing has snapped.

Well bolstered by this I gave the ball joints a judicious tug and twist and out it came and a good shove and they all went back together! Many thanks for the confidence boost to try :)

Glad you managed to sort it, I also use Brodit mount with my Go Superior.
