may have posted in the wrong place as I got no replies so I'll try here;
just bought a XL 335 SE.
tom tom home has a page to plan a route.
can I download a route to the GPS?
if so how? don't see any link.
if not, why would I plan a route on the computer??
thanks in advance,

There isn't the functionality to transfer a route from there to your unit. supposedly, it's to determine a route prior to leaving home.

For those models with Itinerary Planning, you CAN transfer an Itinerary using Google and a 3rd party application called TYRE Look here or another way is using HOUGHI. See here

It's there to show you the best routing for the locations and time you have specified. Especially if you have a traffic option, it's not necessarily the case that by the time you take the trip, the best route will be the one you see on that map. It's not really a route planner, just a device for projecting what a good route might look like. You can't modify the route it creates apart from setting up different start/destination points. Google lets you completely tweak the route and send it to your TomTom. What you see at TomTom would be more useful if your device didn't already incorporate their IQRoutes strategy. Users of older models might benefit.

If you are only interested in going from Point A to Point B, TomTom and Google have a function that will send information to your TomTom.

If you are interested in creating a route and customizing it to your satisfaction, and sending it to your TomTom as an itinerary file, Tyre seems to work the best. You can plan the whole itinerary in Google maps and transfer it to your TomTom. Tyre
