Document Reader For XL 340.S?

TomTom Home suggests that I can add txt/html files... clicking the 'Continue' button does pop up an explorer window into which i can add txt files. The problem is, there is no option on the device to do anything with said files...

(Home says to "Open 'Music and Media' in the Main menu." - no such option,)

Is 'Home' confusing me (i.e. this feature doesn't exist for this model) or am I just confused?

The Home application is plain old stupid, don't trust anything it might tell you with version numbers or such like - It should be possible to put a document reader on the device by running a custom menu and adding the correct folder - something for me to try later, but doing this you will lose HelpMe and MapShare from the normal menu - Mike

Hm - yeah... I gave that a try - and as you suggested, it is much less than ideal. (So I am skipping that solution).

I love the device - but the software (Home and on the unit) leaves much to be desired.

I'm going to hunt around for a 3rd party app that might provide a solution... A (seemingly) simple app would provide a new sub-menu that could be built from scratch (to make it even simpler, it could use menus generated by other apps - i.e. it wouldn't need to provide a 'menu-builder' - just something to render a menu).

The easy way to create a custom menu on the PC is to use NotePad, save the text file as TomTom.mnu and put it in the SdkRegistry folder on the device - if the folder isn't present simply create it.
