I've just started using a new GO 720, and I'm finding that the TomTom Home interface is not especially intuitive. For instance, when I downloaded updates, the software first recommended backing up my device; when I clicked OK for it to begin backing up, it switched to the backup page, then displayed a message box showing download (or was it upload?) progress. When that finished, there was nothing in the "latest backup" display, and when I went back to the "Download your updates" pane, it said I already had done so. So what did it do? I can't tell.

Also, each time I have clicked on "My Go 720", it asks me to turn the device on, when it already is on. The software knows this, because the "My Device" button (with which one disconnects the device) is enabled. So why is it asking me to connect?

In TTHome for my 720, if I select items in the Update page to download, it shows the items downloading **and installing** with a progress bar and the 'done' buttom in bottom right of the screen is active. I can then click on the 'back' button to get to other screen of icons.

Then, click on the backup/restore icon. Click on 'backup' and confirm by clicking the 'backup now' button on the next screen. Again, you shouls see a (surprisingly fast) progress bar. ... and, again, the 'done' button.

When it asks to turn on the device and you say it's already on, try this: Start tthome with the unit docked but OFF. Now, power up the unit. If the unit asks if you want to connect to the computer, say 'yes'. What happens?

Also, when you disconnect the unit from the computer with TTHome running, make sure you **always** use the menu option DEvice-->Disconnect and wait for the message that it's safe to do so. Further, don't hit the power button on the unit for a few seconds till all changes are written properl to the internal memory files.
