When I first got the TT, I mounted the easyport dash pad on the dash. Had some problems
with the easyport mount and bought an Arkon TTEP115 which I like a lot. I stuck it on
the easyport pad. Never had fallen off during January through March. In Florida my car
lives in the garage. I travelled to my daughter's house in Houston. The first day there
with the car in the driveway, the temperature got up to about 78 F. The sun was out from
about noon to 5pm. The windows were closed. The next morning I came out and the mount
had fallen off the dash. The glue on the easyport pad had liquified but the Arkon suction
cup remained securely on the pad. The TT was in the house. I restuck the pad to the
dash when we left and it held fine on the return trip to FL, with the air on.
Now I am faced with several options since I know that in Florida the temp will certainly
go well above 78 and I will go places and have to park outside and know the pad will not
stay on.
1. Replace the easyport pad with the Arkon pad that came with their mount.
2. Remove the pad and buy one of the friction mounts (beanbags) that have a pad to stick the suction cup.
Will the Arkon pad resist the heat? Am wide open to any ideas you might have. Thanks.
