dash mount

I see that they have motorcycle mounts for all the units. Has anyone tried any of them out yet?

The issues would be the power hook-up, weather (I doubt the regular units are waterproof like the Rider), and shock impact - especially for the units with a HD. Some "Irish engineering" would work for the first two, but the last one could still be a problem

Alternate Mount

You know I've tried this alternate mount disk but the adheasive is so like that even Elmers glue would be better! the weight of the tomtom in heat makes it peel off and make the tomtom fall! I'm thinking of useing stronger epoxy also the plastis kindof deforms and sucktion is not garanteed, I aslo wand to try making a fiberglass disk of glass disk a bit thicker...I let you know how if works.

Dash Mount with Dock

I purchased one of these mounts off of eBay; but you can also get it from here: https://www.pdamods.com/proddetail.asp?prod=111ATV2LFLEX

The item is in England and their shipping is fast. As far as reasonable cost that is relative to what you want to spend. I am big on a nice clean and easy installation so I was willing to spend a little more. This is the only mount that I found that would do what I wanted.. What is nice about this mount is that it also has a built in usb plug so you don't need to fiddle with wires when docking and undocking. Just undock/dock it and go.

BTW - For those who are looking for mounting tape for cars and take the heat; you need to buy Scotch/3M Super Heavy Duty DC mounting tape. It is certified for outdoor use. You can spot it because it has red plastic backing and the tape is a dark grey (also thin). The one I can find at Lowes/Home Depot is the 411/DC tape in red packaging. The normal white double sided tape is useless. It is also very important that you clean the spot where you are going to mount with alcohol.

This mounts looks great, but $61 US with shipping from their website. Too bad the dollar is terrible right now against Pounds and Euros.....

Use what you got

I put Velcro (hook) on the suction cup of the provided mount and Velcro loop on the dash and it has worked fine (on a TT One).

The trick is you need to be sure to buy the Velcro designed specifically for vinyl dashboards only:

http://www.velcro.com/consumer/products_au.htm

I first tired this with the more common Velcro (and even the "Industrial Strength") and I ended up with a gooey mess that did not hold up to the heat. After cleaning that off with Goo-Gone and using the automotive Velcro it has worked great with no problems. It's been on my dash all summer with no problems.

You can find the automotive Velcro at Home depot and it is not expensive.
