Couple newbie question

Sorry for all the questions, just learning and not having much luck searching for answers.
1 - If I download different POI's, what happens if it has the same ones? (ie: Fast food restaurants, and one for McDonalds). What happens if I load new POI's and my 920 already had the location preloaded?
2 - I've loaded some POI's, and set preferences to show them. But when I'm driving, none of them show up. Isn't there a way to, if I'm passing a gas station or restaurant, have it's icon show up? Or does it only show destinations?

Oh, one last thing, did they remove Gary Busey's voice? It didn't show up for me, but the others do.

1. In locations where a built in and a custom poi both exist, you will see 2 poi's there, not one. You can delete a custom poi from a custom category, though.

2. But, did you set the preference to show on route? If so, you need to be navigating to a location to see them. You won't see them if you are just driving around.

Preferences-->Show POI on map. Select the ones you want to see (custom & built in categories) and they'll show, even when you are just driving around, no route planned.

Preferences-->Warn when near POI. You can set a warning sound, distance AND whether to warn only when on route or not.

BUT, (first preference setting), be aware the more poi's you have checked, the slower the screen refresh is going to be.

Okay, wait a sec. Under preferences there is 'Show POI on map'. That's set with most of the POI's checked. Does that just mean the my destination POI will show and icon, but nothing in between. That kind of stinks. What if it's a long trip, and you want food and gas places to show their icons as you pass exits? What if you just want to see what all is near the area you are in?
Just so I'm clear, there's no way to have it just show the icons for anything you are near?

No, the checked boxes will display the corresponding POI's anywhere on the map (depending on zoom level, and the number of boxes checked...the map can only display so much...).

If you want gas stations shown, check the box, and it'll display all gas stations in the POI database (probably not ALL gas stations because ALL of them may not be in the POI database to begin with) on your map, not just along your route. As you drive, POI's will appear on the map ahead.

You can also...Navigate To>POI>POI Near You, and go from there.

You probably want most of the POI's UN-checked; just check the ones applicable to your current mission, ie, restaurants shown, but not bus stations if you are on a road trip.

It does, thank you. Now I know it does what I want, but it's not doing it for some reason. I've taken several local trips (around Louisville, KY) and the only thing it shows is my start and finish icons. Any idea what I could be missing?

It may be a memory problem.

Try unchecking all pois. Now, add just one or two at the most. Do they show? If so, add one more.

Most people don't have more than 3 or, at max, 4 checked.
