Correct Route?

Is there a way for me to correct a route that my TT 730 calculates? I used the GPS to just see if it would calculate a good route to a known location. But the unit came up with taking me on some crazy back road and practically made a circle to my destination. What should have happened was the GPS should have just taken me straight through the intersection to my destination instead of in a round about way. I know it may be hard to understand what I am writing but basically is there a way for me to tell TT that the route it calculated is wrong? I tried map correction and so forth but it simply wont cut out the back roads and take the main hwy. The total distance of trip is about 1.2 miles.

I am looking to use the similar technique that Google Maps does where you can drag the route to where you want it to go and save it. I tried this on route planner on TT website but it didnt work. Attached is an example picture.

Thanks for the help.

It may have been a faulty mapshare correction in play that (incorrectly) shows the direct route as being blocked. You could try setting the Mapshare options to not being involved and see if the routing is different.

Also, what method did you use for the route? 'Fastest', 'Shortest'?

As well, when a route is planned, you always have the option to 'choose alternate' and signify the road (or road segment) you want the route to use.

As to saving a route, see this link about Itineraries

Is the destination on the other side of a divided road? Your route looks like a symptom of Tomtom's severe avoidance of Uturns. If so, you can fix per this link.

The road is a 4 lane hwy (2 in both direction) with a turn lane in the middle. A u-turn is not necessary but I can see how my TT might think this would be the case. If I choose to route in the reverse direction it takes me on the route you would expect, a straight shot. But going there is routes me differently. I will check out the link you posted.

Previous reply, I did check to see if I could route both fastest and shortest and there was no difference. I normally have fastest by default. I will check my map share corrections.

Thanks to all for the help.

Go to map correction mode in map share, then zoom in close (mapshare lets you zoom closer than browse mode). If the Tomtom shows two lanes, report it as an "other" error.

Reporting "other" errors don't fix things in real time, in those situations I change both sides of the road to 2-way in mapshare. It is a realtime workaround.
