TomTom Model(s)
one xl
Hi, I`m new here so probably this has been dealt with many times before !
As can be seen in the title I cant get this to work, the Tomtom isnt recognised on COM 3 and Autoroute mentions NMEA 2.0 compatability. I havent the faintest idea and cant seem to find anything that would help. Is this a lost cause,?? I wanted to connect them together for a long trip through Europe.Any ideas would be received with much thanks !! Keith

Your ONE XL does not provide NMEA output (or any data output, for that matter), so it cannot be used as an external source of GPS data for Autoroute. Typically, you will only be able to transmit NMEA data to your PC using a 'puck' or handheld GPS receiver (e.g., most Garmin handheld devices).

Thanks for the info , I presume a puck is a gadget you plug into the usb socket on your laptop that acts as a GPS satnav, working with autoroute ?

Correct. When I say 'puck' I refer to a small GPS receiver with no user interface at all, plugs into USB port (or serial, if you can still find one), and supplies the NMEA data to your PC application. I assume the objective is to create a really BIG moving map?

I use a Garmin 18 in my vehicle for doing some automated mapping. Whether these are exactly what you need, I can't say (don't know your available PC ports or power situation in your vehicle), but...

Pay careful attention to the OEM vs. Deluxe, and 18 vs. 18X specifications.
