For all navigation devices and app, why doesn't TomTom provide alerts at entry to these zones in many UK cities?
Monitored by ANPR cameras, it is often the situation for drivers who are new to a city, that the entry to these zones is not obvious.
Unless much research is carried out before making just a casual, perhaps holiday visit of curiosity, focus is on the busy traffic and direction signs, not necessarily on the now several but not anticipated congestion or low emission zones in some UK cities.
Durham cathedral quarter is a prime example. While the 24hr charge is low at £2, it must be paid by midnight on the evening of first entry into the zone - heavy fine results from failure to pay.
But how do you know that you have been captured on this congestion zone's ANPR cameras? Not many classes of vehicle are exempt, but those that are must obtain exemption from the local authority beforehand.
