Computer not detecting my Tomtom

My computer is not detecting my tomtom device. I have tried turning it off and on. Rebooting (per say) the tomtom -holding the power button until I hear the drums- and nothing. Can someone please help?
 
Are you using the proper usb cable provided with the unit? Try a usb port on the back of the computer.
