compass on XL330s

i know i have seen this posted on here but now i can't find it. my compass is only an arrow on the nav page. at one point trying to fix an other problem i had a compass option but it was replaced by the arrow option in the menu. it had it where you can configure the compass. how can i get this back?

Firmware 8x took away the compass' functionality of Nav 7 firmware. You CAN get some of the functionality back by Preferences-->Status Bar --> Direction (check that on).

Will show the direction in degrees and letters you are travelling.
