Clock Sync

A friend of mine mentioned to me that instead of setting the time you can sync it (with the satellites i assume).

It works on his 540, on my older XL but on my new 540 when I click sync, my time is ahead by 30 mins. I set it manually now but can't figure out why this happens.

Any ideas?

Is your local time offset from GMT -8 Hours or -8,5 Hours - Mike

I'm in Montreal, Canada so I think my GMT is -4

I have seen this before but can't remember which device (I think it was the XL IQ Live but not 100%) - consider it as a bug in the software which you could report to TomTom on Monday - Mike

It also happens on my 720 unit, Mike. It is a bug also reported in another forum you and I are members of. No resolution.

Assuming IQ Routes uses diffrent routing weekends vs weekdays, where on the unit can I check and see what day it"s set at?

That may be off as well

You can't but it seems to know the correct day. It uses utc time from the satellites......

I emailed TT Support. I'll report back with their answer.

Not sure why but this worked.

1. Turn on the TomTom device.
2. Make sure the TomTom device has proper GPS signal and at least 3 to 4 satellites locked onto the device. It will be best if you are under the open sky to get the clear GPS signals.
3. Tap on the screen.
4. Tap on [Change Preferences].
5. Tap on next button till you get the [Set Clock] option.
6. Tap on [Set Clock].
7. Select the time format you would like to view.
8. Tap [Done].
9. Select approximate time.
10. Tap [Done].
11. Tap [Set Clock] again.
12. Tap on [Done].
13. Tap on [Sync]. This should sync the clock with the UTC.
14. Tap on [Done] to complete the screens.

When you plan a route, you can tap on the lower right corner to see a route summary. That summary will show the time and date that the route was planned.
