If you DO have an Explorer backup of your unit's contents, you may try formatting the storage as fat32. If it fails, some say this tool works. I haven't tried it myself.

Proceed at your own risk.........

Yes, I have an explorer backup........

Are there benifits to formatting with FAT32 as opposed to FAT?

My understanding is that fat32 is the format TT deals with. I know it is for the sdhc cards and think it applies to sd cards as well but stand to be corrected.

But it's also the format used for internal memory.

Im not saying your wrong but FAT is what my TT came formatted with from the factory it is a XL 335 S It has only internal memory. (No sd(hc) card or a place for one)

Assuming that it is FAT are you impying that I should format the drive (FAT) and then restore my explorer backup?

Oh by the way......reading other posts about this sort of area ive noticed that I should probubly tell everyone that im using Windows 7 Professional 64bit as this seem so be some type of a growing concern!

Tomtom recognizes both FAT and FAT32 drives. FAT32 is more space efficient, and it allows drives bigger than 2GB (like larger SD cards).

For your internal memory, it shouldn't matter much, but we haven't seen enough posts to know what's what with Win7. If FAT32 doesn't work, try FAT.
