Hi all,
Just after some advice...I've read a couple of threads on this topic but not managed to find an answer to my particular issue.
I bought the iPhone car kit (and app) a few weeks ago and was running it using the supplied tomtom charger. I believe it was working fine but did not have long enough in this format to test it thoroughly.
I've since changed my car and the supplied charger from TomTom is now not long enough. To get around this problem, I have plugged in a USB charger and then a USB lead with female port. Into this I connect a USB to mini USB lead which then plugs into the car kit.
The issues I am having are that with TomTom app running I get battery discharge or steady at best. This is despite me trying a couple of USB chargers - one rated at 1A, the other rated at 2A. (The TomTom charger is rated at 1.2A). I also occasionally get a "this accessory is not made for iPhone" message when nothing in the setup has changed? Very occasionally (and again with nothing changing) the iPhone will not charge at all.
Has anyone any clues to this erratic behaviour? Could it be the long USB cable length?
Is it possible to buy standard TomTom chargers with longer cable lengths?
Many thanks and apologies for the long post!
Phil
