Fear not....it is possible, even though TomTom does not give you that feature on your ONE.

Follow my instructions >>> HERE <<<

Cursor change and more on XL one S

I just bought a One XL S which I almost returned after a day of use because
of some issues.
1. The text to speech is not clear and sometimes cut. for example
34 street sounds like 44 s(cut). , and 1.6 km was 1.6 meter.

2. Another thing is that I cant seem to change the cursor , no menu
to do that.

Ok I will return it tomorow to get a better one...anyway it might not hurt if I
do an update....from ver. 7.___ to ver. 8.010. using TomTom Home.

I was surprised after the update, the cursor can be changed w/ a few selection of cars, and the voice is remarkably clearer than before..the 1.6 km is now
spoken correctly, 1.6 kilometers.

Anyway, maybe you just need to update your unit to get some improvements.

I will be keeping the XL one S and play w/ it for a while.

FYI

It's not a cursor, it's a car icon, and YES, you can change the "car icon" in the "change preferences" menu. Make sure you have "Show all Menu options" selected.

I had a ONE XL and was able to do this just fine. I even installed a bunch of new car icons by just dropping in the new ones in the car icons folder.

As far as the cut speech, it seems to happen to many users here who have an XLS. Make sure you don't have too many, or ANY POI icons showing on the map. Those POI icons will INSANELY reduce performance.

Is there a button on TT to switch between icons or do I have to use that program each time?

I do not have TT with me to try

The TomTom ONE LE model does not have the icon to change the cursor inside the menu, thus there will be nothing to click on. The program I pointed you to will modify your settings.dat file to put the necessary pointer to the icon you want to use.

This menu item does not exist for a TomTom ONE LE. TomTom omitted this from their 'lower end' models. If he wants to change the cursor, he'll have to use the PC program I pointed him to that changes the settings.dat file.

Read who I quoted! He has an XL-S :) I was talking to that guy!

Nope, Sage.......

Birdman was quoting the original poster who said he has a TT One LE, not the poster who has the XL-S.

Birdman will graciously accept your apology.....:p ;)

I wasn't replying to the OP, I was replying to the poster. There's a reason why I quoted him and not the OP. Either I'm having trouble reading, or it really does say One XL S. I will quote again.

^^^I guess I messed up here by saying "that guy" instead of "roaming" ^^^

Birdman quoted ME when he wrote this message, which he's telling me I'm wrong. I never did say the ONE LE had a menu option.
