Carminat Remote control not working 2010 Renault Megane Scenic

I saw that this question has been asked before, but after several attempts at utilizing the tips given, I am still unable to use the satnav in my car. We bought the car yesterday and the remote control is inoperative. The screen comes up and shows my current location but the remote doesn't access the menu or any other function. We've put fresh batteries in but that didn't solve the problem. I tried holding down the menu button as the satnav initialized but to no avail. I then tried the same technique with every button on the remote out of sheer frustration. There does not seem to be a light of any kind on this remote as one of the responders to a previous question indicated there should be. If it helps, the remote shows that the TomTom model is BT remote control & part number is 9UMG.001.00and the Renault Model is Keyboard multimedia part no. 253B09995R.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

There aren't any pairing instructions in the Carminat manual, so one must assume that any remote matching yours in description (assume it's one as shown below) should function with your device. There are a few of these out in the aftermarket (e.g., eBay) but in spite of their age, they're not going cheap, especially in the UK.

If you were here in Colorado, I'd 'sniff' for the RF signal from the device to see if it's transmitting anything at all, but ...

I take it that your Scenic doesn't have the dashboard control for the Carminat?
