Can't check TTS option on my 130S

Newbie to GPS. On my 130S the checkbox for TTS is "grayed out." I have tried different voices, both computer and non-computer and can't access the checkbox. Any ideas are appreciated.

What checkbox precisely are you referring to? In Preferences, voice preferences?

preferences> change voice> choose computer voice> speech preferences. I don't have the option to choose "read aloud street names" "read foreign names out loud" and "read aloud road numbers" they are all grayed out.

But do you actually have a computer voice selected?

yes, I have only Samantha to choose from for computer voices

Try a pin reset. If that doesn't help, try the clear flash tool found here: http://us.support.tomtom.com/cgi-bin/tomtom_us.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6211&Lid=4

If that doesn't help, you'll need to call support, sorry.

And to be clear.......I know Samantha is listed but do you SELECT it?

I went through it again and it worked. What happened is I chose a voice I preferred and it would warn me that human voices could not read messages or warnings and asked if I would like to choose a computer voice. when I selected yes, i assumed it would change it for me. I learned that I have to actually select it after it returns you to the voice change menu. Thank you!

Good news. Don't assume ANYTHING from the firmware!

That can be tricky, but It's good that you got it sorted out. In the future, if you get in a jam and we can't figure it out here, TomTom support is a good call to make - its' 866-486-6866.

As for the goof-up, perhaps your 130S was just craving the Mr. T voice!
