How can I search using coordinates in the route planner please?
I can search on my gps device using coordinates but it seems not on route planner!?

You can type coordinates into the planner but the problem is that it selects the house that is closest to your coordinates.

I'm using route planner app on iPhone and I just get a circle going round when I enter coordinates, wont find anything?

I've tried using route planner on the web using desktop pc but entering degree symbol is causing me issues, cant find it on keyboard..

On the web if you type your coordinates in decimal degrees you do not need to add the degree symbols.

Oh ok, misunderstood
So you can't use coordinates in route planner?
You can, but it will still usually take you to the nearest building that it knows relative to those coordinates.
It didn't used to do this. It has for a while. Stupid idea! Not all of us spend all of our time navigating to buildings!

Well since using coordinates should give pin point accuracy and it doesn't in route planner, that's a NO.

I have an app that lists and allows me to locate and book motorhome stops across France, but the addresses don't match exact location, whereas the coordinates do. Very important when you're driving a big vehicle while towing and in unfamiliar territory driving on t'other side of the road than what you're used to.
When I use the coordinates in route planner it doesn't go to nearest building, it can locate you to over 10 miles away from where you want to be! So that's a major fail and renders route planner non functional for me.

I have some unfavourite things about the new route planner, but this is about my most unfavourite. For the last 10 years, the TomTom MyDrive planner accepted co-ordinates in their exact location. I used Google Maps / Street View to ensure the exact location of a place I wanted, control clicked on the place, and copy & pasted the co-ordinates into MyDrive for either a Place or a Route location. That location was locked in exactly.

What happens now is that after entering the co-ordinates, the planner selects the location that is closest to whatever place is in the planner data base, even if that is 500 metres away or further.

We have a favourite picnic spot on a deserted stretch of road. It can be identified on Street View, but when the co-ordinates are entered into plan.tomtom.com, it selects a railway overpass location 800 metres away. It is not good enough to remove this important functionality from the new planner.

But all is not lost. If you want a close enough location for the place saved in My Places, go to the map, click where you think the place is, hit the star, and save the place with your selected place name. The location then stays in My Places where it is supposed to be.

Unfortunately for me all is lost.
if I click where the place is, it still defaults to an address and moves the star. The secure gated camping carparks all over the EU are carparks and very often have unpaved roads leading to them, so since this change not only is route planner non functional, but so is my truck satnav, because that too just moves the star marker to an address.

These days google maps are way more functional and accurate than TomTom navs, and its free! The only thing stopping me dropping the TomTom device in the trash bin, is its ability to route trucks and speed cameras. When google maps can route to vehicle size TomTom are history for me. Wont ever buy another TomTom product in my lifetime!
