One XL-S
Newbie here...My XL-S is a refurb from NewEgg and it works fine. Because it is RFB, I cannot download a free update from TT. I just learned a close friend recently received an XL-S as a gift and his version numbers are more recent than mine. Is there a procedure that would allow me to update my machine by copying his more recent files? For example, if I performed a backup of his machine on my computer, could that then be loaded into my machine? Or perhaps updates are restricted to a specific serial number. In the future, if we could share the updates, it would halve the cost.

Any information would be greatly appreciated, especially a step-by-step procedure.
Thanks,
Buzzard

Firmware updates are always free; however, maps are locked to a specific unit, even 2 units of the same model type can't share maps legitimately. Sorry.

You have to add your email address and password to download from his computer so in reality your not able because its different units and different device codes.

Make sure in tom tom home that you remove from your unit whatever you what to change first. Then disconnect and reconnect to tom tom home. The latest version should be their :maybe
