I recently had my 710 stolen :-(
I had Western Europe, pre-installed, then last year bought the USA maps.
Everything was backed up.
If I went out and bought the 720 in the USA, could I somehow extract the European maps from the TT SD card and install them on the 720?

Sorry, maps are device specific.

If I were you, plead your case to Tom Tom, what's the worst they can say? If you reported it to the police, get a copy of the report, or a case number.

this might work...although i am making no promises.(if all else fails option maybe)
if you bought your US maps from the TT website you are able to download them for a year.
I has a similar problem with a US device,

-firstly i would recommend unistalling Home, and start a fresh with the new device.
If you get a UK 720 with western europe on it, reinstall HOME and back it up as soon as you get it. (so the maps already present are linked to the device)
then goto the TT website and log in. You can change your device code on the site, so you account is linked with your new device. You should then be able to download the map you previously purchased.
This is what i did with.- albiet backing up the maps already on the device,so i lost my USA maps (i didnt know maps were device specific at the time)
Although i was told by customer services i was breaking the copyright laws, by putting the map i had already purchased on another device, even though they conceded it was a known loophole.

Good Luck!
