Blu Tooth Audio Q's

OK. So as I understand it the only audio out option for the GO 720 is the built in speaker. If I purchased a Blue Tooth ear receiver could I transfer the call over to the ear receiver by selecting "transfer the call to the telephone option". Or would the 720 and the ear receiver trip over each other once the call comes in? I would like to be notified of the incoming call via the 720 and then listen to it over the ear piece. the internal speaker just doesn't cut it for phone conversations (or much else).

For phone calls you can only use the built in speaker.

The Line Out, Bluetooth and FM output can only be used for mp3 and Navigation instructions, to use the Bluetooth you need to be using a BT HiFi device that supports A2DP protocol, most ear phones only support HFP - Mike

Thanks Mike,

Ii understand I need a Bluetooth Device. I was looking at the
Motorola H350 Bluetooth Headset. My main concern is if the Headset and the 720 will interfere with each other. I like the idea of hands free calling, and I really like the 720 showing to me that a call is coming in and who it is. Why is it that the audio can not be sent to the line out??

No idea why the phone audio can only be used via the internal speaker, in the end I gave up using the TT as handsfree in my car and installed a dedicated Bluetooth handsfree kit called iO-Play which lets the TomTom audio go via the car speakers using a Bluetooth connection and the phone audio goes through the car speakers - A far better solution that meets my needs - I don't use the TomTom for handsfree at all these days - Mike

Thanks again for the reply.

I have been looking in this forum as well as the Jeep forum I frequent. I am actually looking into a new head unit with both BlueTooth and HD tuners built in. That way I can stream the mp3's via BlueTooth instead of the ancient cassette adapter. I have not had much luck with the FM transmitter. I live in Mass, there is not any frequency that is consistently clear.

Whatever deck you purchase make sure it supports A2DP mode to make sure it can stream audio - Mike

I'm looking at the Dual XHD7714, which also has optional steering wheel controls which would like to retain. How much did you pay for the iO-Play, and where did you get it? The head unit and steering wheel controller is going to set me back about $250 from Crutchfield.

The iO-Play cost me around ?60 although its gone up in price recently - e-bay is probably the best option although please bear in mind I am UK based where this kit is made/ available for sale, AFAIK its not available via a retail outlet in the USA as yet which is a shame as you guys are missing out on a quality accessory for the car.
For more details about the iO-Play see This Thread where I included quite a few details of how I installed it - Mike

The lowest frequencies seem to be the strongest with the Tomtom transmitter. My Tomtom's in the car right now, but I have it set to something like 89.1 (I forget exactly) in Boston and it works well.

I have a kenwood excelon with the supreme mp3 decoding logic built in, and just play mp3s directly off the head unit. It should be higher quality audio than relaying via a device like a Tomtom who's core competency isn't music. I don't play the music too loud, and Tomtom app 8.302 can speak over the music fine.

I didn't get a bluetooth tuner, and just use the tomtom for bluetooth calls (manually muting the radio). I like the nice big dialing touchscreen on the tomtom.
