The above battery is the new one, The battery below is the OLD unit.
I have tried to cross reference the numbers given but seem to have no luck. I want to speculate that I may need the european battery but I want to order the right one the second time around...
Anyone have any info?

They have different sizes for different models. Can you return yours and request the correct one for your model?

The only difference between those batteries is the one on top (new one) has a higher capacity (longer battery life mAh) then the one on the bottom (old one).

Only reason not to use the new battery is if it doesnt plug in or fit into the device all together.

The maxell icp653443 is a 3.7vdc battery. Which is all that matters here....

I bought a battery like the one Mongo got and it would not plug in my unit. The connector is too wide. I sent an email to a company called Foxlink that lists the Maxell 653443 battery today to see if they still have this battery and how much it is.
