Bad quickfix file?

I had a problem yesterday and today where I could not get a GPS lock to save my life. First trip if the day it worked, but subsequent trips I had only 2-3 sats locked. Multiple hard resets got me 8 sats locked, but the GPS coudln't get a good position fix. I was stopped in the middle of a mall parking lot at this point. Finally started working after a few more resets.

Same thing today. First trip fine, subsequent trips 3-4 sats but no fix. Came home and deleted the ephem files and forced a QuickFix update over the air through Plus services (Home woudln't update it). Now everything seems ok so far.

Would a bad QuickFix file cause me to not be able to get a fix, even with a lock on 8 sats?

A BT GPS puck for my blackberry worked great through all this.

A bad quickfix file can cause all sorts of weird happenings....including what you described; nevertheless; keep an eye on the situation for a few days.

Getting the quick fix over the air seriously add to the corruption risks. The file is small but, if it's unreadable, the GPS probably revert back to full discovery. And without a PC connection, there's no way to delete the corrupted file so, waiting is probably the only option. I don't know if doing reset actually does anything besides helping relieve the frustration! ;)

I experienced this over this past weekend. No sat lock for anything. I didn't have anything with me to do pin reset so I turned off the unit, removed the SD card and it went back to normal.
