Backup files

I have a XL 325 S need files as when tried to use backup and restore, lost files. Backup only has folders in it no files. So I am looking for all the files and folders to reload in XL 325.

You can always get the application folders and files when you connect the device to Home and select Update my Device but if you have no map on the device and no backup then I'm afraid you are out of luck.

When you connect to Home and go to Manage my Unit (2nd screen), what does it show for items on device? How about items on Computer?

When you turn on Tom Tom stops with error of can't find maps.. I was looking to see if anyone with XL325 could copy and send me data off Tom Tom

Sorry but maps are not interchangeable between devices.

Meanwhile, it is possible that you have files that Home doesn't know about (it sometimes gets confused), especially if you ever took advantage of the one-time map update when you purchased the 325. Look here and tell us if you see anything

Where do they put the maps? In a folder or just a file.

It's a FOLDER that should be found in the map subfolder. The FOLDER should be called something like United_States

Have folder United States, in folder are two files cline.dat and cname.dat

There should be more files than that. You may need to purchase the current map if that's all you have.

I found old backup and Unites States folder had 23 files and folder.

Just turned it on an it works, have to backup now by copy & paste

Now that you're up and running, we firmly recommend you make a backup of your unit using that procedure!
