Backup error One XL-S

after the recent update to version 7.140 the backup has an error as follows
drv:\USA_and_Canada\cname.dat cannot be copied to {desginated filename}

another attempt has this error
drv:\USA_and_Canada\cnode.dat cannot be copied to {designated filename}

Then the device is trapped showing the Do Not Disconnect. I have to reset the device. I know this does not lose my setup

I did send the "anonymous" report on three occasions one was ID885022. Does Tomtom support monitor this forum? When can we expect a correction to this problem?

Same Problem

I had the same problem! Not sure what the issue is. Does this mean my backup was completely unsuccessful or just this file?

Thanks

okay correction to the version in effect at the time was 7.162 not 7.140. however the backup did "choke" on those files names. I was told the maps in that version 7.162 were causing issues.

after following emailed instructions of support i lost everything and had to contact by phone. We had to format my device and reinstall version 7.140. After the download of application version7.140 and reinstall of map vers 710 i am up and running again. the automatic backup function works now storing at the place i set up from Tomtom HOME folder preferences

BUT everytime I log into TomTom home i am offered the application version 7.162 which I am told to NOT download. why they just don't remove this application which support acknowledges is causing issues is beyond me!

This is what one tech support advised to perform a manual backup

Since the backup in HOME isn't working, you can make a manual backup. Connect your ONE XL-S to the computer and find the TomTom USB disk drive. Then right click it and select Copy, find a place on your hard drive to store it, and then press Ctrl-V.

This takes about 30 min on my system (10.5MB)

Hope this clarifies things for you
