Ever since the last Home upgrade to 2.3.x the program no longer starts when I plug in my One to the PC.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Yes, I have noticed that also. Although it did auto start one day last week much to my surprise. It has not done it since!!

There is a menu preference in TomTom Home to select whether Home starts automatically when Windows starts up, when the unit is connected, or not at all (meaning you have to start it manually). How have you got it set?

Home preferences

I have "check for updates when I connect to my computer"
"Start HOME when my computer starts"

I have the TOMTOM Icon in the tray at the bottom right. It does not start HOME when I connect to the PC. I have to click the Icon.

It did before. I have 2.3.1.92 now.

It's exactly the same for me. I also unticked the start automatically box, rebooted, re-ticked the check box, & rebooted to no avail.

Is there a place in XP to set a USB device to start a specific program ?

I also have autostart checked and it does not start unless I click the icon. It began after the update!!

I do not have TTHome here but there is a file somewhere that is a text file with, as I remember, a line saying AUTORUN, which if prefixed by a # sign, cancels the function. Perhaps the update somehow altered that file.

This file will be somewhere on your computer in the TOMTOM folder off the Documents folder.

I'll try to hunt it down later today if nobody finds it.

Didn't find it.

Is the file on the TomTom itself ?

Yes, there is a file in the root of the unit called AUTORUN.INF. Open it with Notepad. There should NOT be a # sign at the beginning of the line referencing 'autorun' (line 3, I think), if you want the application to start automatically. At least, that is how it is supposed to work, I think.

This is the contents of mine:

[autorun]
action=Run TomTom HOME
open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom
icon=tomtom.ico
[DeviceInstall]
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC.

It's last modified date is in 2007.
So, that's not what is causing the problem.
