What is the latest application for the One XL-S? My current app is 8.030 and home does not offer to update when unit connected to computer. I see that other units have app 8.351. If 8.030 is the latest for the One XL-S, does anyone know it an update will be coming soon?

It does appear you have the latest application for your model.

Is there a problem with using that app and your map that you are encountering??

No, I have the latest map and it works well with this application, I was hoping that a new application may help the computer voice stutter that is very annoying.

Am having the same difficulty as you. Both our units seem setup identically--voices, map and apllication. Have noticed something strange--use a 4GB SD and have the voice stuttering. With my brief test of voices on the onboard system they sounded OK using the latest map and application also.
When I return home(on vacation) see if I can find a solution

You should be using no more than a 2 GB card on that device or else you may have read/write problems when you start to write to certain portions of the card.

And wow, I thought the voice stuttering was solved a long time ago now. Didn't know some people still had issues with that.

Voice stutter was mostly solved on app 8.302, and as far as I knew only affected Loquendo voices.

I never heard any stuttering complaints before on the Vocalizer voices on the ONE XL-S. My suspicion is also the SD card. The tomtom ONE XL-S only officially supports up to 2GB.

Also, I've never heard of app 8.030 before. If you follow these steps you'll downgrade to app 8.010 which may help things. But make a full explorer backup before doing any changes.

I have 8.010, not 8.030,I hit wrong key. I use a 2 GB sd, but I still have stutter when using internal memoryor sd card. I have not tried internal memory since upgrading maps. Will give it a try and post back.

I updated maps to internal memory and still have stutter. Are there upgraded voices that can be downloaded? I have tried to find a version number for voices with no results.

I've searched the past and I guess there were stuttering complaints on this model back then.

Stuttering is a function of the tomtom trying to do too much on a slow processor. It seems the only successful workaround for the ONE XL-S was to display fewer POI categories or so that the CPU load was decreased.

You can try calling and comlpaining to tomotm, or voting on the bug thread, but the ONE XL-S is a 2007 model so I doubt they'll focus much on fixing it.

As you, have found stuttering on internal memory also. Did not have this problem until last update.
As mentioned, will attempt to correct the problem when I get home.
Will follow this thread with great interest.
Apologize for any errors--using a netbook.

One thing to try. The more recent ONE XL-S versions were shipped with app 8.014. This was reputed to be more stable than 8.010, but will break the Operate My XL emulator.

Try downloading this file and extracting it to the Tomtom to see if it helps the stuttering.

Use Winrar or equivalent application.

Once the file is downloaded, try highlighting the file and right clicking. Look at the options. You may have 'expand' as one of them.

THANK YOU! Did not expect such a speedy reply. To get them into the TT copy them using XP?
Seems the older I get, become more of a dummy.

It's actually Winrar or equivalent that would do the expanding of the files into the unit.

stuttering

Had the same problem and do believe I have it fixed, at least for now. I deleted ALL computer voices from internal memory(1) 4GB SD and the files stored in HOME on the PC. Downloaded new files(especially SUSAN) in HOME, internal memory, and SD disc and Susan no longer stutters.

Can you clarify? Did you stay on app 8.010 or did you also upgrade to app 8.014.

The reason I ask is that Susan should not have been compatible with the ONE XL-S. Definitely not on 8.010, but I didn't think it was compatible with 8.014 either.

The ONE XL-S is supposed to use Samantha

I'm surprised it worked, can you check the memory on your device? I've never seen anyone run Susan on a 32mb ram system. And I thought the ONE XL-S had 32mb ram.

For what I understanding, computer voices be compatible with this or that device, are sorely depended on its NC, not the unit itself. I'm maybe wrong.
I'm using Susan on every unit I have, and NC 8.010 was one of them and I had no problem whatsover.

Liked to thank both mvi and dhn for quick replies. Being I no longer have "stuttering" am going to leave well enough alone.
Look at signature about my ONE XLS, hope it provides info you wanted.
