The fm transmitter does not perform well. the static from the fm reception is terrible. Have any of you noticed that when you touch your tt the static is reduced dramatically? I wonder if there's a way to ground it or set up differently to kill the static. Other than holding your hand on there the whole time.lol thanks.

Are you using the vehicle charger when you hear the static?

It could be the vehicle charger causing interference. I know that it does it to some stations in some of the cars I have driven. If you unplug the charger, does it stop?

What firmware version is your unit running?
This problem is occuring with the 7.481 firmware but not the 7.221.
This is why I am still running on the 7.221.
I use my 920 to play all my music :)

I don't know which firmware. Can I still go back to a different firmware?

curious - did the firm ware fix solve your static and interference issues? i have the same problem with thumping/tapping sounds and tons of distortion.

is the download of the firmware fairly straightforward?

thanks.

This firmware works! Believe me, I use it because of the FM transmitter.
Just copy all the of 7.221 file into your tomtom's root directory. Let it replace all the files. Then reboot your device and you'll notice the difference.
