My old GO510 was dropped and stopped working :( so I turned to ?bay and found a non working GO910 for 40.00 hoping it was something simple... but it did not work. so I decided to open the units and found the power and data connection loose on the GO910. So I switched the mainbroad and battery from the GO510 to the GO910 and its been working fine for 11 months. Today the tom tom home software tried to upload an update for a GO510/710 and came back with a upload error. I think home software is seeing the GO510 data on the mainbroad. The unit boots with the GO910 splash screens. Is there anyway to rewrite the firmware or program on the mainbroad from a GO510 to a GO910? Many thanks Louis

here the error info:

Just a thought....using your PC....look in your TomTom's root/main folder for the file " ttgo.bif "....open it with notepad....try editing the lines to match your device.

BE SURE TO MAKE A BACK-UP COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL " TTGO.BIF " BEFORE EDITING !

DeviceName=TomTom GO ???

DeviceVersionHW=GO ???

I looked in the folder

Thanks for the tip. I did check the files and they read G910. anyone know how to rewrite the firmware or bios on the mainbroad? when I look at my tomtom from windows explorer i wondered if I copy a image of a GO910 into my mixed & matched unit if it would overwrite the 510 info to a 910? can anyone help me with the files?
