Antenna problem

Hi everyone!

I hoe you are all well.

I have a TomTom One XL Europe. I had been using a generic GPS antenna for about a year with no problems. But now if it is connected before turn-on, the TomTom wont work and I have to use the reset button on the base of the unit to get it working again. If I connect it when the unit is on, it turns off and I have to reset again. I believe the antenna has an MCX connector.

Any ideas what the problem could be and how to remedy it?

It sounds like the external aerial is shot, I do wonder why you need the external aerial though as the One XL wasn't a bad performer for reception, I never found it necessary to resort to using the socket on the back of the device with an aerial? - Mike

Thanks for the reply. I have a heat reflecting windscreen, it makes quite an impact on the signal.
What's really annoynig is even if it's not working properly there's no need for it to crash my TomTom, the cheeky little antenna. I think I'll shellout for a proper TomTom antenna next time.
