Announce street names to late to do any good

I have a xxl 540M (upgraded from a one xl) and I really like it EXCEPT that it announces street names to late to do any good.

For instance, I'm traveling on 2 lane US 41 highway. A 1/2 mile before my turn, it announces "turn right in 1/2 mile."

Why can't it say, "turn right on G18 road in 1/2 mile?"

It actual does say "turn right on G18 road" BUT, tomtom says it with 250 ft left! What good is that?

I really thought that by getting a unit that said street names I could conceivably not look at the tomtom to see the next street name.

I noticed the same thing.

What Tomtom does is:

On fast roads:
- say the street 2 miles away
- doesn't say the street 0.5 miles away
- say the street 300 feet away

On slow roads:
- say the street 1 mile away
- doesn't say the street 0.25 miles away
- say the street 150 feet away

So I agree that Tomtom should say the street all three times. But a workaround is to listen for the street name in the first of the 3 announcements.

My xxl 540m doesn't do it that way. I'm talking about 2 lane US designated highways with a 55 mph speed limit.

Mine says something like
turn right in 2 miles
turn right in .5 mile
turn right on G18 Road in 250 ft

This is where the above happened, but there are many, many more spots where it only says the street names within 250 ft
