Android Auto gone dark

Tomtom Go has recently gone very dark on Android Auto. All other apps are fine.

Is it just me?

I find it goes dark randomly and then just as randomly goes back to light again, no reason that I can see, it's not like its being triggered by my lights going on or something, visibility and time of day are not the cause either.
