Please look at the data in my .sig and tell me whether or not I'm up-to-date.

Thanks.

Your map (665) is very out of date. Newer maps are 725 and 815(I think you can use the latter with 7.90 only)

Thanks for replying.

When I hook up my ONE to my computer and run TomTom HOME, I'm not offered any updates. How do I find out if 815 can be used with 7.900 before I spend $100?

The reason given for application 7.90 was to allow older units to use the 815 maps.

Log on to Home, and go to "Add maps, Traffic, etc."/Maps - and see if it offers you the 815 Map. If it does not appear (you should also be logged onto your TT account), call TT support and see if there any issues.

I would be careful here - many posters have been having trouble with the new applications (8.3 and 7.9), and have rolled back to older applications. In both cases, this makes it impossible to run the 815 Maps, which will not run on the older applications.

If you are not having any trouble with 7.9 - you may be OK. I would first give it a good test on the road and also when using any of the features you want to be sure work OK.

The installation of a new map will probably not cause problems by itself. Make a copy of your map folder for safe keeping first (with windows - use windows explorer and make sure that in "files", you set it to show hidden files and folders first).

It does offer a variety of 815 maps.

I'm not sure when I got 7.9 but I did lose all my favorites. Is that what you're referring to?

Your signature said you have 7.9, and I doubt you would have been offfered the 815 maps without it.

Loosing favorites is a problem with 7.9 also. Search the forum on this one - quite a few recent posts on it.

Tele Atlas put out new maps recently, so it could help you by upgrading.

But I would call TT support first - just as others have mentioned, it is a very good idea to back up your maps, settings, etc before upgrading to 8.15. I did the upgrade last weekend and it worked well overall and the new one did not clear out my old favorites settings. It was helpful to have the old backup ready, though, because others have been experiencing this.

One thing to clarify is that there is a difference between updating the firmware and actually buying a map update. TT support will help you out with deciding what to do (or not to do).
