I have had this for a little over a month and thanks to others on the forum I have come across alternate means to charge the gps units w/o plugging them into our computers.
the cheapest and simpliest is the razr charger, this is readily available on ebay for about 7 bucks shipped. the tomtom uses a standard usb mini plug on these units which makes it extremely easy to find ac chargers. I like the motorola charger because it is a standard quality charger and the plug folds flat for travel purposes. It puts out about 550 milliamps thus a complete charge should be less then 2-3 hours plugged in. here is a standard link for an oem model and not a knock off which might affect the voltage output.

I also like the ipod universal charger from apple. This is a 1 amp charger with a usb output and with a cheap usb to mini usb cable you can charge the the gps in about 90 minutes. the plug also folds flat and with the universal unit you can get european plugs to use with the chargers in almost any country.
this unit ranges for about $15 shipped for an actual oem apple product and includes an apple ipod cable. here is the link for it

for car charging you can use the standard tomtom gps charger or as an alternate you can use this unit for the razr which cost a little under 10 bucks shipped.

And last but not least when there is absolutely no power available there is this unique little device which will use one AA battery to charge your gps about 1/3 full or for a total of about 1 hours use, not bad for 4 bucks and will also work on various phone etc.

I hope this gives you options for the gps units.
