I'm an uber noob. I just got my TT ONE XL Monday. I plugged it in to my computer and all sorts of wonderful updates just started to happen on there own. Unfortunate for me one of them locked up the internet explorer and caused the disconnect device button to grey out. I powered off the device and unplugged the TT. You can see where this is going. I had to RMA the unit back to fort Worth. :( Now when I get back I don't want to screw it up again. I'm afraid I won't be able to back the unit up correctly. Anyone else have this much trouble?

First I'll say nope, when you plugged in did you follow the instructions from the little book that came with the unit, when I first plugged in and it said do you want to hook up to the computer and I said yes, like you the updates started and I just sat there and let it do it's thing, when it said it was done I just kinda went ahead and did the tutorial and no problems, only thing I can say is, give it a try, I am a recently acquired Noobie also, hopeful everything will work ok this time, if not, look for one of the other forums on here, especially the TomTom One and go there and ask some questions....John

I'm pretty much a TT n00b too. When I tried to connect the first time it hung up and I suspected some other USB auto sensing device. There was some other program that attempts to drag pictures from my camera when it is connected. When I killed that program, ever since there has been no problem with TT.

Hope this helps
