Addresses

I think we need more of an explanation of just exactly what you are asking.......

When is Tom Tom going to show alpha neumerical addressses in there maps? Lots of them by me. Won't show any of them. Renders it useless! Tom tom is going to have to sooner or later. It is going to become the norm.

It appears that your statements are a little too general for anyone.

Give a specific State, City and cross roads so that we can actually see what you are trying to get across.

I know exactly what the OP is talking about. No, there's no way to enter a mixed number/letter address (ie, 240e 24th St) on a Tomtom. It's been an issue with them since the beginning. Sometimes just ignoring the letter will get you the right address. Other times there's just no way to enter it and get the proper destination. Hawaii is particularly problematic with it's numerous alpha-numeric addresses. I've also seen posts from some towns in the Midwest and in Texas with problem addresses. I wouldn't hold my breath for TomTom to offer a method of toggling back and forth between numbers and letters for the house number, but really it shouldn't be that hard to do. All other devices I've used allow it.

I'll give you a couple of actual problematic addresses.
28w241 Warrenville Rd., Warrenville, IL 60555-3335 (Al's Pizza) or 69-205 Waikoloa Beach Dr., Honolulu, Hawaii (that's the Queen's Market, a very popular destination)

Yeah, you're right, I didn't think of those.
I too had tried to type them in the past. They can only be selected by scanning up or down if shown in the list.

I just returned a recently purchased TomTom because of this specific issue. How can they continue to ignore the problem?
I saw TomTom units in several Hawaii stores. You'd think most would get returned once buyers realize they can't navigate to so many addresses. We are moving to Hawaii so I'll probably have to get a Garmin since they handle these addresses just fine.

Use Google Maps.

Once I traveled to "Jasper Beach, ME" . My Brother in Law's Navigon just gave up.

I got the co-ordinates from GMaps, and got there just fine with my TomTom.

Yeah, but if the TT developers got off their rump and rectified the problem, users wouldn't have to go 'Plan B'.

That is not on Google's own map either or Navteq for that matter.

As per Canada Post 69-205 would be Appt or Unit # 69 at 205 Waikoloa.Beach Dr.
Neither Google nor TomTom can resolve anything but a street number (in a proper address).

You wouldn't be able to do that with the above address.

I agree.
But at least TomTom is flexible enough for alternate solutions. On the Navigon (Navteq) I could not find "Jasper Beach, ME" in its POI (same for my TT) . I then thought : "Let's use GM" . Surfing the Menu of Navigon upside down I could not find an option to navigate by Lat/Long anywhere.
