The basic question is, "Do I need one?"
I have 2 devices that run Tom Tom in-car GPS. One is an Ipaq PDA which runs Tom Tom Navigator 5 via a Bluetooth GPS receiver and the other is a Tom Tom Go 630 Traffic which I have just bought on eBay.
The TT Nav 5 software was a totally separate thing from the iPaq PDA and contained installation files and maps of the UK and Europe on 7 CDs. There is an Activation code with this which is entered on to the PDA when Tom Tom is installed. It may also need to be input if the maps are changed. I don't know about that because I never changed from the UK map.
The new device is working perfectly but, being a natural born worrier, I can't help thinking that if there is ever going to be an Activation code needed, it will be needed on mine sooner than later. The Tom Tom Go 630 came with a windscreen mount, in-car charger and a blank for the SD card slot. Nothing else.
So, has my device ever needed an activation code?
If so, can I retrieve the code from the device in case it is ever needed again?
Under what circumstances would I need an Activation code?
Many thanks for any info and apologies for firing off all these questions. You know what it's like when you get a new toy .
