Access an inaccessible site

Good morning,

I want to reset my TomTom Start 25 GPS. I use the TomTom Support tutorial. This advises me to save my favorites, but when I click on the link this is what I get:

This site is inaccessible
169.254.255.1 took too long to respond.

Here are a few tips :

Check connection
Check proxy and firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

What can I do ? Thanks for your help.
 
169.254.255.1 is the address of your Start 25 (yes, it has an IP address!)
The app cannot communicate with your Start 25.
Be sure it is connected to a good USB cable.
 
The cable used is the one I use for updates to my Start 25 with MyDrive Connect. He is OK.
When I use Willy875's link and click:
Click Manage community content.
My screen displays:

I suppose anything is possible with Win11.


Here is an idea for you for troubleshooting:

With your Start 25 connected, and MyDrive Connect running, put this address in your favorite browser and see what happens:
169.254.255.1/personal/

Make SURE your browser doesn't try to turn this into https://169.254.255.1/personal

What do you see when you do that? Same time-out, or ???
 
I didn't quite understand what you wanted. I opened MyDrive connect then my Start25 which connected. Then I entered 169.254.255.1/personal/ into Brave which gave me several uses of this IP.
Nothing else happened.

I guess I don't quite understand what happened on your end, either.

When you enter an IP address into a browser's address line, you expect the browser to attempt to make contact with that address, not explain what the address might be used for. It sounds as though Brave performed a search for you, not a requested IP connection. Weird software if that's what happened.

What should have happened is that you ought to have been directed to your Start 25 at that address, and you should have seen a folder structure of sorts showing the personal content (POIs and the like) that you've added to your Start 25, or if you haven't added any, at least the empty folder structure. I was using that trick in trying to sort out the nature of your connection problem.
