Let's say you sit at home and you want to program the coming day's trip, going to three villages in the neighborhood - in your preferred sequence - and return home.
Simple isn't it ? So I go ...
a) "drive to " village A (the first stop), all seems okay
b) next "drive to" village B, when it's found select center, and add to route (not "ride"),

and what does this pricey thing do ? it adds village B as an intermediate stop, not the next stop.
I tried in reverse, program village C first, then B then A. Doesn't work either.

Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem ? On my car's Tomtom it's a piece of cake, you have all the choices in the "tripple dot" menu.
But not in the Rider's Tomtom. I don't get it.

You must start by selecting your starting point and the arrival village.
Once this is done, you will add the intermediate villages to your route.

Hi WIlly,
I understand, but this approach does not work if one tries to go to a number of places in a defined sequence if the total number of places is > or = 4.
You simply cannot control what comes next, the firmware makes it's own choices based on distance (at least that is what it seems to me.)
Thanks for trying anyway.

Hi
I find it strange that this doesn't work for you?

Example, see image. I plan a route with a departure and an arrival.
To this route, I added two waypoints. The GPS will make me pass by these two points before my arrival.

Now I understand, we think we are talking about two different things.
You are planning on your PC, then move the route to your Tomtom.
The problem I describe comes about when I try to do all this (on the way) on the Tomtom Rider satnav.

You should be able to do the same thing directly on the GPS.

The starting point will always be your current position.

You select an arrival point, then go.

Press the 3 dots, then search for an intermediate point.

A new window opens on your GPS, click add
Do the same for the other intermediate points.

I don't mean to exhaust your good will, but no ... as soon as
- starting point and end point defined,
- and I try to add more than one extra point it is the device which defines the sequence.
I can choose the the points but I cannot choose which comes first and which comes next.

Your 1st waypoint, you have to select it first, then the 2nd waypoint second. It works like this for me, I don't see why it would be different for you.

Once you have planned your route with all the waypoints, do you save it?

See ,I cannot provide a screenshot or the like from where I am. All I can do is give you a procedure.
Let's say you want to go to 3 villages from where you are. I follow your earlier procedure (one has to start defining start and end first). If the 4 places (start plus 3) - we call them 1-2-3-4 - are in a more or less straight line all is fine. But imagine they are in a sort of Zick-zack and 3 is closer to 1 than 2 was. [closer means by calculated route, not straight line]. In this case my Tomtom Rider will always insist to go like 1-3-2-4 : NO MATTER what you program. There is no way to tell it that you want 3 inserted between 2 and 4. It doesn't matter whether you program the points in the sequence 1-4-3-2 or 1-4-2-3. And when you try 1-2-x-x it gets worse.
On my car Tomtom with the same UI (I don't dare to say with the same software) you can add points to the end of the existing route. So you can start the sequence you want : 1->2 -> 3 then 4. On the Rider this option has been removed (not added to the context menu. You can only insert, and you cannot control were.
Is this really different on your machine ?

And I found the solution.
Changing the order of stops on an itinerary (= programming the sequence you want)
- IS NOT available using the "drive to" command, as I thought it should be,
- BUT IT IS available through the command "plan a thrill".
Just that neither the online help nor the manual says so - or I am to d... to find it.
I can only hope that this finding is going to help somebody else.
