Well not technically in the car yet, i saw this thread and was inspired to go a step beyond. My vehicle is a 98 Civic, and as title says i am securing it to the a-pillar cover. Here are a few images i took with the cell phone while working on it at work(we arent that busy :D..)

here is the base ..4 layers of 1/4 in mdf channeled for the cord and connector.

a little bondo and sanding is next...

Here is a sanded base in place on the a-pillar cover..

Well, its a start, i will show some finished product next week as im off work for a few days.
..(hope this image share stuff works)

Cheers, Rdub

Nice but it seems to be a lot of work to save $75:D

The way I look at it if you have the skill why not use it. plus it's different from any other install "custom" if you will, and nothing better then having it the way you want it:cool:

thx Bel4, and yes Pedro it is :), its being sold

and tim, its not work its a what i enjoy doing. ;)

Done!

OK, started with black, wasnt right... primer grey is close enough :p

...with mini usb end in cradle and cord routed threw base, i soldered my accessory and ground on

...and voila done in car, im pretty happy with the end result.

Hope you enjoyed the project,
(I'll take a snap with a real camera from home!!)

Cheers, Dub.

better pic

this is a better shot of it :)

the camera brings out the contrast of the 2 different greys, looks better to the eye.

Cheers, Dub.
