930T... 3rd time a charm?

Here's my situation... I got a 930T for my BDay... upgrade from my 910, which I must say I still love.

Git it home started map updates. I need the Europe map cause I am stationed at Ramstein AB. 2 hours later the Euro map errors out, but the North America map updates fine. I will just skip the Euro map for now cause I am going on vacation to the States anyway... update it when I get back. So I head over to do any other updates... this is where is goes south fast. Start the update, they download, installed, and now it must reset in order for the updates to take effect. The system will not even power on, will not soft reset, nothing by charge... well at least the green light worked. Customer Support is no help, so I return it for a new one.

Round #2

Same thing as above, but this time I get an error cause the other unit is still registered to other unit. I skip the map update and go right to the system updates. I installed just the 930 system update.... get to the restart message, and the unit will not restart... WTF! 2 in a row... This time the unit will soft reset though, but when I try to connect to my computer it shuts down and I must soft reset to get it to turn back on. Customer Support again is no help cause they are simply reading from their own FAQ's...

Looks like I am headed back to the store again... I think I might just swap over to Garmin...

Anyone have any ideas?

Make a full Windows Explorer backup of the device before you do anything else with it. You need to get the account issue resolved, if you have got this second device registered to the same e-mail the first unit was you will have problems for some considerable time.
Can you get the device to connect to the PC or not? if not plug it in to the PC and reset it with a paperclip, when the device boots up it should connect to the computer straight away - Mike

I returned the 2nd and now working on my 3rd one...

The others would not connect to the PC. Went through all the step with Service Department. I did not do the latest firmware update on the 3rd one and all seems to be good for now. They also reset my registered units, so the 3rd one is not loaded against my account. I was told by the technician to only do one map update at a time, since doing that I cannot update the Europe maps now (living in Germany right now).

I am very disappointed with the TomTom this time around; service and products. I should have just went with Garmin like I initially wanted to, but my wife is so comfortable with TomTom. I am thinking about doing the firmware update and letting this one go kaput too...

My Go 910 is one of the best GPS's I have ever had, with my Garmin Edge 705 with a real close 2nd...

You should be able to update both maps......

Make a complete Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents. Ensure hidden files/folders are showing.

And when you disconnect the unit, do it PROPERLY. Use Home to disconnect device and wait a few seconds AFTER you see the window saying it is safe to disconnect.
