930 Issues and possible solutions for me

OK...I've owned a 930 (Canadian Model if it matters) for approximately 2 weeks now.

I did a back up through explorer after a "few" customizations.

These are some of the issues I'm having and I'm hoping some of you experts can help solve them...

1) MP3 playback upon startup sometimes plays through internal speaker (it is set to line out). Off/on will fix it usually first go.

2) Occassionally MP3 playback keeps displaying error message on start-up and sometimes will correct itself and play. Most times it will not. Just kinda starts bugging out.

When this does happen off/on does not rectify. Paper clip method is the only cure. When this happens, it also seems to effect Bluetooth recognizing the phone. If it does recognize the phone it will tell me something to the effect "the features with this phone do not work..." and not allow a connect. Paper clip again. Problem solved but hardly a remedy.

3) To my understanding handsfree line out is/will be a no go forever? Don't get it. Really don't.

4) Remote will not navigate through phonebook entries and other things (I think). Lower firmwares (can't remember which version) will allow this function BUT...you lose the ability to see names next to the phone numbers. Ummmm...OK?

Basically what I am asking is this...what is the most stable "firmware" that you users have found and/or possible solutions to these issues that you've been able to fix.

Thanks in advance for your help. Great forum too.

8,010 was probably the best in terms of being stable, if you want a link to try it just ask but I am not too sure if or how it will work with a recently released map such as v835 or even v840 - Mike

I don't use MP3

With line out, do you mean to hear the caller through the car radio. If yes I cannot help.
If you mean Bluetooth hands free 930 speaker, what exactly is the problem?

Others and I reverted back to 8.302 and don't seem to have any problems. I don't know if there were any with playing through the radio as I am getting a broadcast signal at every single frequency here in Scarborough.

My understanding is:

You need app 8.000 or later to read map 800 or later
You need app 8.300 or later to read map 815 or later

If you have a 7xx map, the most stable software is reported to be 7.221
If you have an 800-810 map, the most stable software is reported to be 8.010
If you have a 815 or later map, the most stable software is reported to be 8.302

My guess is that there is an issue with the echo-cancellation algorithm, which is preventing handsfree from being broadcast over fm or line out. Perhaps the echo software can't compensate for an unknown speaker delay (even if milliseconds). The lag on the internal speakers is fixed and known.
