I'm just wondering how come sometimes the price of 930 is listed lower than the price of 730.. I noticed this in Best Buy. I actually asked the salesperson. And the explanation is 'We have a sale on the 930'..

But If I compare, the features, clearly the 930 has more than than the 730. So if both units are on display, why would one buy the 730? when 930 is cheaper? if so, what's the need for displaying the 730 in the first place?

I suspect its a sales technique.. I just could not understand the logic.
any explanation?

Chalk it up to promotional pricing from the retailers.

I own a 730 and have been happy with it so far. The 930 does have more features, but the main difference is that the 930 has more expanded maps.

I would have thought that prices on electronics would go down with it being Christmas season and all, but NOOOOO. Prices seem to have gone up on many things.

I bought my 720 a couple of months ago for $169.99. After my sale was over, the 720 sold for $163.99. After that sale was over, and now that it's around Christmas time, the price has shot up to $199.99! And they announce "SALE!" all over it.

I bought my previous TomTom ONE XL from CompUSA for $138.99. A month later the ONE XL went down to $119.99. I went to look for one today to buy as a present, and they are $199.99 now. Jeez! I guess Christmas is the perfect time to screw people over since people WILL spend money around this time!

Best Buys Canada 730 & 930 CAD 349.99 +Tax

Took a friend to Best Buys on Thursday to show him TomToms.
He thought of buying a 730 for 349.00 and spend the $ 100 next year for a Eurpean map should he decide to visit there.
Looked at the 930 for 449.00 but thought hed be better off getting a newer map a year from now for Europe.

Friday night's Community Papers Best Buys insert advertised the 930 for 349.99. I told my friend about it.
He called me Sunday, told me he had discussed it with his wife and asked me to come along to buy it.

Sure as hell there they were on the display stand, both 730 and 930 for 349.99.

One thing bugged me and that was that the description said 2GB internal memory. Asking the salesman when the internal memory was cut in half he insisted the it was always like that. Told him that mine came with 4GB (how else could that have included that abbreviated European map) he said lets go to my computer I'll show you their web page.
Going to TomTom they displayed the Canadian prices as 449.99 and 4GB internal memory.
My friend bought the machine.

beside the larger maps what I like the most is enhanced positioning where when in the middle of a large city like New York or on a lower level of a bridge or in a tunnel the unit behaves as if its still connected . It gives a good estimate of where you really are. A great features
