For some reason, my nice new 740 keeps losing connection with my Sprint HTC Touch Pro phone. It will say 'Connected to HTC 77', then it will say that there was no answer from my phone. When I first paired them I didn't have this problem. Any ideas?

Oh yeah, is it possible to use the addresses in my contact book in the GPS?

The HTC phones don't support transferall of the contacts details to the device, this is a phone related issue rather than a fault of the TomTom, what you can do is create a text file on the PC with all your contacts in it and save the file named "contacts.txt" (without the "") then copy this to the contacts folder on the device.

The following format is used:

"Jim Airnes/M","0123456789"
"Rachel Airnes/M","0123456789"
"MIKE ALDER/W","0123456789"

"Name/X","NUMBER" where X is either:

M for mobile
W for Work
H for Home

Thats the first HTC phone I have ever heard of that you can get numbers from, I don't think there is anyway to get the addresses from the phone though, even they did post across they would probably be in the wrong format for the device to use - Mike

A lot us us have noticed decreases in the quality of Tomtom devices lately.

Seems conspicuously timed with their cost cutting program that they undertook to pay for all the Teleatlas debt. The people who were laid off had jobs for a reason...

From my personal experience - the transfer of phone numbers works like a charm on T-Mobile Wing (custom firmware, WM6.1), HTC Kaiser (custom firmware, WM6.1) and HTC TouchPro (original firmware from Sprint) after installing BT DUN on them. I believe it works on many other phones too, just have not tried. But I dubt there is a way to get contact addresses. What I did - I created a POI category 'Contacts' and added all addresses I needed. Not very handy, but it works.

So should I call? Or should I just chalk it up to another 'this really doesn't work as advertised' moment?

You can try calling Tomtom phone support. They'll try a bunch of stuff (formatting, etc), but if/when they give up ask if they can escalate it to product development to put on their bug-fix todo list.

Note that if your phone isn't on this list, they'll tell you it's an incompatible phone and won't attempt to troubleshoot.

In my experience, many "non supported" phones still work.

So I would assume that when the 2-3 day bug is fixed for compatible phones, yours will be fixed too.

It's not so much a 'supported or non-supported' thing...it's the fact that half of the tech things I've either bought, or subscribe to (digital cable, cell phone service et al) do about 85% of all the things advertised, and I'm supposed to be happy with that. It's annoying. (Ipod control for US users? not there, no idea when the dock will be released...come on).
