I am not sure whether I have recorded voice or computer voice selected but what is best and how would I know which I am using?
If I haven't got any computer voices and only have 40mb left on the device (no sdhc card yet) how do I put a computer voice on the device?

Under voice preferences, select voice, the computer voices will say (computer). for example, Susan is a computer voice.

I don't seem to have any computer voices to choose from but don't seem to have enough memory left for one as 40mb is not seemingly enough but what is the difference between the recorded voice that I currently have and a computer voice?

A recorded voice will say 'turn right' while a computer voice will say 'turn right on Elm Street'.

Use Home to go to Manage My Device and click on the unit (not computer) tab. See what is listed for voices.

You can remove all non English voices if there.
